Manchester United continue the pre-season tour of the US on early Thursday morning GMT, here’s how we think the line-up will look.
The weekend saw Manchester United lose to Arsenal, although it’s the injury blows to Rasmus Hojlund and then Leny Yoro which will have left the club frustrated rather than the game.
Both players exited in the first half – but on a bright note, the performance in the opening 15-20 minutes was excellent, although the lack of Hojlund was detrimental.
These performances and also the emergence of two academy players who are now proving themselves as ready for first-team football will have Erik ten Hag delighted.
Here’s how we think United will line up for the game.
How Manchester United could lineup vs Real Betis
It’s the second game of United’s tour of America, and after losing to Arsenal, Ten Hag will be desperate for his team to capitalise on the solid signs displayed so far during pre-season and win.
Injuries will play a part in the selection decisions from the manager, so here is how we think Manchester United could line up against Betis.

Excellent in possession against Arsenal, Amass linked up well down the left and his ball control and passing offer a lot to United.
He has things to learn defensively, with the first Arsenal goal being his fault – although it was offside – but he seems to be a fast learner and we expect to see him start again.
Casemiro
Heading into this summer, Casemiro’s exit looked all but assured however it now seems like he’ll be staying.
No interest has emerged yet for him beyond rumours and for Casemiro another year could beckon at United.
Due to a lack of options, he will probably start, but he needs to improve or fans will soon grow weary of him once again.
Toby Collyer
Similar to Amass, Toby Collyer has made himself too valuable not to play through pre-season thus far and therefore he should start against Betis.
Collyer is already being eyed up for a full debut this coming season, and with the quality he’s shown, we imagine he could keep shooting up the pecking order.
Aside from Kobbie Mainoo, the midfield is all to play for and Collyer will be placing himself above multiple of his senior teammates with his performances this summer.
Amad Diallo
Against Arsenal, while Amad Diallo wasn’t at his optimal level, he still did levels better than Antony has ever done and in doing so the battle for right-wing looks to be over.
Amad looks at home in the starting line-up and even when Alejandro Garnacho returns, Amad should be starting.
The Ivorian had been crying out for a chance to show he was capable of playing at the highest level and so far he’s making the most of it.
Mason Mount
After a frustrating first season as a Manchester United player, Mason Mount has begun pre-season showing why he was signed.
He’s looked so sharp and should’ve had an assist against Arsenal with Amad missing the chance.
Everything good was coming through Mount and it bodes very well for the 2024/25 season, with Bruno Fernandes potentially having serious competition.
Marcus Rashford
So far this pre-season, Marcus Rashford hasn’t looked at his very best although he has been quicker and sharper than he looked last season.
With Garnacho still away on holiday, Rashford will be hoping to score or put in a more substantial performance here.
As the new season draws ever closer, Rashford has outlined his dreams at United and he’d better start performing if he wants to accomplish them.
Ethan Wheatley
Finally, upfront, we imagine that Rasmus Hojlund won’t be risked even if he is okay to be playing and therefore Ethan Wheatley could get another chance for valuable minutes.
Yet to score this tour, Wheatley has seen a few big chances ellude him and he’ll be desperate to join Joe Hugill, Amad and Hojlund in having scored.
The miss in the penalty shootout will have knocked his confidence but we back him to grab a goal in this game.
