‘Medical set’: Romano says Arsenal target is now finally in London, medical pencilled in – He will be announce today as potential signing
The Portuguese attacker was the subject of interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United this month, but, as has become a trend in recent years, Chelsea have nipped in at the 11th hour and secured this loan deal.
The Blues have agreed a loan deal that will include an €11m (£9m) fee as well as a package that will see the London club completely cover the forward’s wages.
This one looks to be a done deal, as Fabrizio Romano has now delivered his patented ‘here we go’ tweet ahead of the official confirmation.
Felix is set to join Chelsea, and this move could be announced in the coming hours as a medical has been pencilled in very soon.
This is a blow to Arsenal who were hoping to sign Felix themselves, but there may be a positive to take out of this.
Indeed, Chelsea landing Felix may well indicate that they’re taking a step back in the race to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk after it was reported on Monday evening that the Gunners had finally made a breakthrough in negotiations with the Uruguayan.
Of course, Chelsea have been known to go out on massive spending sprees in the past, so a move for Mudryk isn’t out of the question, but adding two forwards to a squad that is already packed full of attacking talent this January does feel like overkill slightly.
If this moves quickly enough, Felix could make his debut on Thursday in the west London derby against Fulham at Craven Cottage as Graham Potter’s side look to get back on track and pick up their first post-World Cup win after a truly terrible run of form.
Felix has been flirting with the Premier League for ages, and now, he’s finally set to arrive in England with Chelsea.
