Medical Today: 4-Year Deal Agreed, Man United player finalises move – Exclusive
Man United academy star is set to undergo a medical at Reading on Friday before completing a move, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been a top target for the Royals this summer, and the League One side are now set to complete the signing.
It is understood that Savage is set to sign a four-year deal with Reading once his medical is passed.
Football Insider broke the news on Thursday night that Reading had won the race to sign the son of Robbie.
Savage has spent the entirety of his playing career with the Red Devils, working his way through the youth academy and reaching the first team in 2021.
He has made one senior appearance for the Manchester giants, coming on for a late cameo in a Champions League clash against Young Boys in December 2021.
With first-team opportunities hard to come by at Old Trafford, Savage went out on loan to Forest Green Rovers in 2023, where he scored once in 15 games as the side suffered relegation to League Two.
Following his loan stint, Savage returned to Manchester and was included in Erik ten Hag’s pre-season plans this summer.
As recently as last Wednesday (12 July), Savage captained United in the second half of their pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Oslo.
The Red Devils have since named their travelling squad to tour the United States, with Savage left in England to complete his move to Reading
His departure will mark the third academy star to be sold by United this summer, with Zidane Iqbal and Ethan Laird also given the green light to leave the club.
