MONDAY NIGHT DEAL: Player representatives is now in London Carrington to seal move for Manchester United first signing today – agreement was reached last week, club official announcement tomorrow morning

Man United are trying to agree on personal terms with Joshua Zirkzee, before officially triggering his release clause.

Over the last few days, the Joshua Zirkzee transfer rumours have been kicked up a notch. Suddenly, it feels like this transfer is a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.

The Bologna striker is now being heavily linked with an Old Trafford move, after earlier on in the window it felt like AC Milan were the frontrunners.

TalkSPORT have now provided the latest update on the future of the Dutchman, claiming that United are actually trying to agree personal terms with their transfer target, before triggering the player’s £33m release clause.

United remain in negotiations with Kia Joorabchian, Zirkzee’s agent, over a potential transfer to the Theatre of Dreams.

Zirkzee has already held ‘advanced’ talks with AC Milan, though the 23-year-old is still ‘open’ to a Premier League switch this summer.

Erik ten Hag is looking to provide some competition for Rasmus Hojlund in the striker department, after losing Anthony Martial on a free transfer this summer.

Zirkzee scored 12 goals across all competitions last season, helping Bologna to a fifth-place finish in Serie A.

Arsenal are also keen on the Dutch striker, who is currently away at the European Championship with the Netherlands. That could mean any move to sign the forward is delayed until the tournament is over.

This feels like a smart piece of business. A relatively cheap fee for a player with massive upside and potential, in a position of need for Ten Hag. Let’s hope United can wrap up a deal relatively quickly, before moving onto other transfer targets.
