Kevin Campbell has predicted that Gabriel Jesus could be the difference for Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Emirates Stadium plays host tomorrow afternoon in what is going to be a massive North London derby.
Although Arsenal are top of the Premier League standings, Tottenham are one of only two unbeaten teams in the division this season, with Manchester City being the other.
It’s been a while since the Gunners and Spurs were both this good going into a derby.
And former Arsenal hitman Campbell believes that Jesus – signed for £45 million from City this past summer – could be the man to down Antonio Conte’s side.
He told talkSPORT: “I am feeling pretty confident. I have got to say because the past says that Arsenal will always get the better of Spurs at the Emirates and I am expecting that to happen again. My man Jesus is going to be the difference.”
Honestly, Campbell might be absolutely correct.
Jesus has scored four Premier League goals for Arsenal this season but more than that, he is absolutely integral to how Mikel Arteta’s side play.
If the Brazil international is up for it, that raises the level of the players around him and the hosts’ attacking quantities – Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli for instance – could be very difficult to stop.
Even if Jesus doesn’t score, it’s the affect he has on his teammates, be it creatively or in terms of morale, which is stunning and Tottenham will absolutely need to silence him tomorrow.
