‘NOT AGAIN’: After what Arsenal have done, Arsenal about to loose Star player to Tottenham – Personal terms agreed
It’s no secret that Arsenal have been in the market for a left-footed centre-back in recent months and Evan Ndicka had been a long-standing target for the Gunners.
However, the recent signing of Jakub Kiwior from Spezia now seems to have scratched that itch at the Emirates and thrown a spanner in the works for Ndicka’s move to the Emirates.
Kiwior and Ndicka are both left-footed centre-backs and with the signing of Kiwior, one has to assume that that Arsenal will pursue Ndicka any further.
The Gunners already have a number of centre-backs in the squad, and signing two left-footed players in the same position would be a bit overkill.
It’s also worth noting that the so-called ‘phenom’ had reportedly agreed to join Arsenal on a pre-contract agreement in the summer, but the reports were always tenuous and now look much less likely to materialize.
Tottenham have also been linked with Ndicka and with the North London club in need of a centre-back, a move to Spurs now seems more likely for the French defender.
Indeed, Spurs are very keen to bolster their squad with a left-footed centre-half. Clement Lenglet is currently at Spurs, but he’s set to return to Barcelona at the end of the season, while Ben Davies, with all due respect, is a converted left-back.
With Spurs making contact with Ndicka in recent weeks, one has to imagine that he’s more likely to join Tottenham than Arsenal.
Arsenal’s signing of Kiwior has likely ended any chance of Ndicka joining the club. With the Gunners already having a number of centre-backs in the squad, signing two left-footed players in the same position would be unnecessary.
Ndicka’s future now looks to be in the hands of Tottenham or any other club that comes forward and makes him an offer.
