“NOT AGAIN”: Chelsea now in advanced talks to sign Arsenal target; player has changed his mind in last 24 hours

Chelsea are now in advanced talks to try and sign French forward, Marcus Thuram, with the player now willing to leave ‘Gladbach in January.

Thuram has been earmarked by a number of Premier League clubs as a potential signing. The likes of Arsenal have been heavily linked with Thuram, while Newcastle are also known to have watched the Frenchman.

However, Chelsea are also in the mix – as they are with so many players – and according to Di Marzio, the Blues are now advanced in their talks to sign Thuram.

Di Marzio writes how Thuram had initially been open to remaining in Germany for now. But the forward has apparently had a change of heart and is now open to moving in January. Chelsea, then, are hoping to land Thuram after signing Joao Felix from Atletico on loan.

Felix endured a nightmare start to life as a Chelsea player by getting sent off at Fulham last night.

Thuram, meanwhile, is seen as an up-and-coming star who can get even better. He played a key role for France in the World Cup, coming off the bench more than once to good effect.

Our View: Thuram good for Chelsea but Arsenal all about Mudryk

Marcus Thuram is a good player but Arsenal would take Chelsea signing him if it means they get Mykyahlo Mudryk.

Arsenal’s push all January has been to sign Mudryk. Yes, Thuram would be a good signing and help but in the end, getting Mudryk is the key play for the Gunners.

For Chelsea, Thuram is another smart, young signing. Despite not starting for France, he did impress and made a difference in Qatar when he played. For a bargain price in January, and with Chelsea in need, it makes sense for Todd Boehly to do business right now.

Arsenal, meanwhile, won’t care one jot if the Mudryk deal gets over the line this weekend.
