Not Asensio: Another £22M star player from Real Madrid wants to join Arsenal – ‘VERBAL AGREEMENT REACHED LAST WEEK’
Over the past few days, there have been a few rumours that Arsenal, conscious they will need a deeper squad next season, are interested in Brahim Díaz.
The forward is currently on loan from Real Madrid at AC Milan, who have an option to buy him permanently if they so wish, but the Gunners could scupper that, if Corriere dello Sport are to be believed.
The Serie A side negotiated a €22m fee with their La Liga counterparts when they struck a two-year deal for the Spaniard, but the intention of the Italians, it seems, is to ‘lower the costs’, with upcoming meetings set to be ‘decisive’.
However, there are a couple of issues that could scupper this, one of them being Arsenal’s sudden interest in the player, while the other comes following reports Real Madrid might want to renew their player.
It’s said the Gunners ‘would like to open negotiations’ and ‘present an offer’ to Real Madrid for the 23-year-old, whom Mikel Arteta knows well when they were together at Manchester City.
This is seen as ‘one more obstacle’ for Milan, whose potential lack of Champions League football next season could prove costly in their transfer plans.
They are currently fourth in Serie A, but only by a thin margin, while we all know Arsenal are well on their way to qualifying for the competition, as they currently lead the Premier League by eight points.
Furthermore, the Gunners will always have the financial advantage, meaning Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will need some convincing arguments to get their way.
