‘NOT BUKAYO SAKA,NOT ZINCHENKO’: 91 touches, 71 passes, 5 duels won: This Arsenal star was excellent in Aston Villa win
Arsenal midfielder produced a brilliant performance as the club secured a 4-2 Premier League win over Aston Villa on the road on Saturday.
The Gunners went behind on two occasions against the Villans at Villa Park but they managed to prove their title credentials with a fine comeback win.
Jorginho, who started his second straight Premier League game for the club, was undoubtedly the man of the match after his late goal contribution.
The Italian was very good with his distribution again, and he eventually created the match winner with his stellar long-range strike in the 93rd minute.
His effort only found the woodwork, but the ball from the rebound hit Emiliano Martinez’s head before finding the back of the net.
Gabriel Martinelli put the gloss on the second-half display with the fourth goal, but Jorginho was certainly the man of the match in our opinion.
Over 90 minutes, Jorginho had 91 touches, completing 71 out of his 80 passes. He created two chances while winning five duels and three tackles.
There were many questions raised on Jorginho’s ability after Thomas Partey’s muscle injury. The Italian star has definitely answered his critics.
With the victory, Arsenal have moved two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s side had the chance to return to the top of the summit against Nottingham Forest, but missed the opportunity with a 1-1 draw.
This makes the victory at Villa even more sweeter. Mikel Arteta will have his sights on another winning run in order to pile the pressure on City.
The Gunners will return to Premier League action at Leicester City next Saturday.
