Paul Merson has praised Arsenal midfielder Jorginho on Sky Sports News (5:23pm, February 25, 2023) for his performance against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has said that Jorginho, who joined the Gunners from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window, kept things ticking in the middle of the park and was a calming influence on the match.
Mikel Arteta’s side got the better of Leicester 1-0 away from home on Saturday afternoon.
Brazil international forward Gabriel Martinelli scored the only goal of the match in the second half.
Jorginho started the match in the middle of a midfield-three.
The Italy international set up Bukayo Saka for a very good chance in the first half and imposed himself in the middle of the park.
However, there were some occasions when the former Chelsea star was a bit too slow to get to balls.
Now, Jorginho is not the second coming of Thomas Partey, but we have to say that in the absence of the Ghanian star in the starting lineup, the Italian ace did well.
