The transfer of premier league star to Arsenal is now reportedly a ‘done deal,’ after the London clubs agreed on a £65m fee.
The 24-year-old’s team struggled in the Premier League last season but Mikel Arteta still clearly thinks he can play a big role for the Gunners.
In fairness, though, the entire Chelsea team struggled last term, and Havertz was forced to play out of position as a striker for much of it. So, that was not really a fair reflection of his abilities.
Overall, since signing for the Blues in 2020, the Germany international has made 139 appearances. He has scored 32 goals and made 15 assists.
In the process, Havertz helped Chelsea to win the Champions League in 2021, as well as FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup success under Thomas Tuchel.
Interestingly, Havertz has previously been linked with a reunion with Tuchel at Bayern Munich.
But, it now seems that Arsenal have won the race for his signature, with the move set to be announced in the very near future.
Havertz to Arsenal: ‘DONE DEAL!’
This is according to reputed transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, Havertz to Arsenal is now a ‘done deal’ after he completed the first part of his medical on Monday.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Kai Havertz and Arsenal, announcement probably this week. It’s a DONE DEAL!”
“New details: Contract until 2028, transfer fee €75 million (£65 million) with bonuses included.
“Total agreement between the clubs, last parts of the medical this week. Arteta – a key driver!”
Now, with the Havertz deal all-but completed, Arteta’s attention will be fully on sealing a deal for his primary target – Declan Rice.
As it stands, Arsenal have seen two bids rejected for the West Ham midfielder, the second worth £90m in total (£75m plus £15m in add-ons).
West Ham rejected the bid and Manchester City have since entered the race. They tabled the same £90m amount, though structuring the deal more favourably for the Hammers. Indeed, their offer comprised £80m plus £10m in add-ons.
However, that was also rejected. So, now it is up to Arsenal to make a bid that will usurp the Cityzen’s latest offer.
While those negotiations continue, what is almost certain – barring any last-minute twists – is that Havertz will be playing at the Emirates next season.
