OFFICIAL NOW: First Victor Gyokeres press conference words to fans as He joins Arsenal on a FIVE years deal TODAY – Congratulations Arsenal fans

Arsenal are poised to secure their sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have had a productive summer with five quality acquisitions.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard made their friendly debuts against AC Milan.

Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera have also been officially confirmed as new signings.

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres will be the club’s sixth arrival of the summer.

The Gunners have already agreed to pay €63.5 million (£55.2m) with €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons (£63.9m overall).

O Jogo now report that Gyokeres will be in London on Friday (today) to undergo his medical.

He will then travel to Singapore to join his new teammates in the pre-season tour.

Arsenal finally put an end to striker saga
The Gunners started the transfer window with the primary aim of signing a marquee striker.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko was the priority target, but Arsenal quickly turned their attention to Gyokeres after complication over the payment terms with the Bundesliga outfit.

Sporting CP have not proved an easy club to negotiate with either. The Portuguese champions haggled over easy achievable add-ons and they have eventually managed to attain those.

However, Arsenal will pay the bonuses over the length of his contract (five years) rather than in two seasons. Both clubs will feel they have secured a good deal on the striker.

Gyokeres on his part has been determined to join the Gunners. He has also followed a strict individual training plan despite refusing to link up with Sporting CP for their pre-season camp.

Hence, he should be at a reasonably good fitness level, and the onus is now on developing chemistry and adapting to the tactics when he joins team training in the coming days.

Sunday’s friendly against Newcastle United in Singapore may come too soon for the Swede. He could make his non-competitive debut versus Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on July 31.
