After starting the season poorly under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United decided to hire Ruben Amorim as the new head coach.

After an average few weeks under the new manager, United displayed promising performances against Liverpool and Arsenal in back-to-back games and it was thought that they turned the corner and things would improve from there on.

However, Amorim’s side were poor once again vs relegation threatened Southampton last night, although they eventually won the game courtesy of Amad Diallo’s late hattrick.

Man Utd are currently 12th in the Premier League table with 26 points from 21 games. This was their first victory at Old Trafford since the win over Everton last month.

In the meantime, the January window is open and United are looking to reinforce the squad to help Amorim turn the situation around in the second half of this season.

Writing on X, transfer journalist, Christian Falk, states that Man Utd are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and are set to hold talks with the player’s agent to secure his service.

The player has entered the final few months of his current contract and the Bavarian club have found it difficult to persuade him to sign an extension. So, his future is currently hanging in the balance.

Davies’s representatives will also hold talks with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City over a potential move. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Amorim’s side to seal the deal.

The Canadian – who currently earns around £182,000-a-week in salary at Allianz Arena – is deemed one of the best fullbacks in the world.

He has already showcased his qualities at the highest level, helping Bayern win a Champions League trophy, multiple Bundesliga titles and several other cup competitions.

Hence, Davies would be an excellent acquisition for Man Utd if they purchase him.
