David Seaman has suggested that one Manchester United player is now showing how good he is, having caused some real problems for Erik ten Hag’s side in the opening months of the season.

Manchester United’s loss to Fulham on Saturday perhaps reminded everyone of how much work lies ahead at Old Trafford, despite their recent winning run.

There has been some more positive signs over the last couple of months. Rasmus Hojlund looks like the real deal. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo has been excellent throughout his time in the first-team.

David Seaman praises Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana
But there have also been brighter performances in goal from Andre Onana.

Onana, for some time, appeared to be a poor signing for United. The Cameroon international was tasked with replacing David de Gea. And for a while, it appeared that he was not up to the task.

The lowest point perhaps came when Onana was at fault for two goals as Manchester United were beaten by Galatasaray in the Champions League.

David Seaman obviously had his doubts about the 27-year-old, too. But speaking on Seaman Says, he suggested that he is starting to see how much quality Onana really has.

“He’s making some saves with proper technique, which is what I’m looking at. I think he’s stopped trying to make saves look good. Because when he first went in, he was making some really strange saves – like what I call camera saves. Because he’s gone in, he wants people to see how good he is. And he was trying to make it look better and it was flipping around and he was causing all sorts of trouble,” he said.

“He’s settled down a lot now. We’re seeing how good he is with his feet. Now I compare him with Raya. Raya at the back now with his feet is brilliant. His confidence is there. And it’s like with Onana, his confidence is coming back. He’s still got a lot to prove. There’s no doubt about that. We’ll see the rest of this season and going into next season.”

A lot of uncertainty at Old Trafford heading into the summer
There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding a lot of the Manchester United squad heading into the first summer since INEOS took charge of a stake in the club.

There are players who are surely going to have huge rules to play, including Hojlund and Mainoo. And there are some big names who will surely be in contention to move on.

Onana has perhaps shown enough lately to show that he does have something to offer. But his form earlier in the season probably means that there may be a question mark over his long-term future while the club continue to put important figures in place.
