‘Perfect’ Arsenal target has reportedly been ‘won over’ by Edu and Arteta, fans should be excited

Arsenal are finally up and running in the transfer market.

The Gunners have signed Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira, and Matt Turner will soon arrive at the Emirates too.

Regarding Arsenal’s top target, Gabriel Jesus, things are looking great on that front too.

On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano claimed negotiations for the Brazil international were “very advanced”.

The following day, Romano added that discussions were taking place over “key details”.

On Thursday, the Daily Star reported that Tottenham had dropped out of the race for Jesus.

And today, The Telegraph has suggested that Jesus to Arsenal ‘seems to be only a matter of time’.

“It seems Jesus has been won over”

Going back a day, Dean Jones provided a detailed update on the Jesus to Arsenal negotiations.

He made an interesting and exciting claim regarding the Manchester City striker’s thoughts on a move.

Namely, that Jesus has opened up to the idea of joining the Gunners and may have just been won over.

“Jesus would have a different role in the team and would be seen as more of a focal point,” Jones wrote on GiveMeSport.

“Mikel Arteta knows Jesus and it is understood he has outlined a detailed plan of how the move would work for him.

“It would not be the first time Arteta has used a personal touch to secure an Arsenal signing. And for the most part, it seems Jesus has been won over.

“Jesus has been waiting to see what other offers land this summer – and in particular has been hoping for a bid from AC Milan – but so far Arsenal is seen as the most likely move.

“And he is believed to have seemed more open to the idea in recent days.

“Arsenal believe Jesus would have no problem increasing his own personal goal output beyond the 13 he got last season.

“But more than that there is a feeling his play would also benefit the rest of the side.

“The Gunners scored 61 goals in the top-flight last season and with the input of a new experienced forward – who they see as an upgrade on Alexandre Lacazette – they feel he could help them close the gap on the number of goals it takes to reach the top four.”

This is exciting news for Arsenal fans, a potential hurdle overcome in their pursuit of the “perfect” Brazil international.

Obviously the Gunners must still come to an agreement with City, but it looks as though things are going in the right direction.
