Personal terms agreed: Arsenal agrees terms with Europe’s most wanted striker as the attacker is set to arrive in January

Former Premier League star Jamie O’Hara insists that Arsenal have ‘got the money’ to sign Alexander Isak or a player of a similar calibre.

The Gunners have long been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Isak with rumours circling again ahead of the January window.

Isak has been in fine form for the Magpies this season, with nine goal involvements across 13 Premier League games under Eddie Howe.

It has been reported that Newcastle won’t entertain any offers for their superstar Swede, though, unless a bid exceeds a whopping £115m.

‘Arsenal need a striker, it’s as simple as that,’ ex-Tottenham midfielder O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport.

‘I like Kai Havertz. He’s a good player, but he will not win you the Premier League.

‘He can chip in here and there, but you need a goalscorer that’s going to get you 25 or more goals a season.

‘That’s the difference at this level, Arsenal should look to sign a player like Alexander Isak.

‘They’ve got the money and that is clearly the position in their team that needs improving on.

‘Arsenal don’t have their Erling Haaland or Mohamed Salah that will win you a league title, Bukayo Saka can produce but you need a striker that can do it as well.’

Isak has established himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers since arriving at St James’ Park in the summer of 2022.

The 25-year-old helped Newcastle beat Arsenal 1-0 last month, scoring the only goal of the match.

He currently has a contract at St James’ Park until 2028, with Newcastle hoping to keep him amid the transfer interest from Arsenal.
