Liverpool and Arsenal are eyeing up Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo for the summer window.

That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of AS, who state the 23-year-old draws attention from the Premier League, where Liverpool and Arsenal are his interested parties.

The winger’s contract lasts until 2029, but his future at the La Liga club remains uncertain.

Kubo has already rejected a four-year deal worth €160m from Saudi Arabia. The report states the Premier League clubs have been ‘knocking on his door, mainly Liverpool and Arsenal’.

AS state the Japan international has changed agents and his new representatives will have a meeting with La Real this week. There’s a lack of clarity around the Spanish club’s new project, after failing to qualify for Europe.

Real Sociedad have seen manager, Imanol Alguacil, and sporting director, Roberto Olabe, leave the club. That decision to change agents and uncertainty around La Real could lead to his exit in the upcoming window.

Kubo has a €60m release clause and it’s unclear if Arne Slot’s side and the Gunners are willing to activate it. AS point out former club Real Madrid are entitled to receive 50% of the fee from his sale.

Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka are the first-choice right wingers for the Reds and the Gunners respectively. Kubo prefers to operate in the same position and will be a backup if he joins Liverpool or Arsenal.
