Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sanctioned a club-record bid in excess of £70m for Caicedo in the January transfer window but a deal fell through.
Brighton refused to sell the Ecuador international – even after he went public with his desire to leave – and despite being keen to keep him this summer they will let him go if the right offer comes in.
Arsenal still want to sign him ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, and according to new reports, they have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with the player.
The Gunners still need to negotiate a fee with Brighton – who are hoping to receive at least £80m for the 21-year-old.
Chelsea are not out of the race to sign Caicedo and the Blues are reportedly willing to pay Brighton more than Arsenal, with Caicedo set for talks with the west London club in the next few days to learn about Mauricio Pochettino’s project.
But Caicedo is keen to play in the Champions League – with Chelsea out of Europe next term – and it is thought that his priority is to join Arsenal.
Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra recently hailed Arsenal as a ‘great club’.
‘Arsenal is a great team for everyone; let’s see what happens in the summer, there are many clubs keen on Moises,’ he told Arsenalinformer. ‘Moises has four years left on his contract. He’s having an incredible season, so it’s normal that there are many clubs interested in him
‘There aren’t many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe. I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game. He can slot into any [team] as he is ready for it all. His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football.’
