Player Arteta released in January now flying, he’s in his ‘best form in years’ – Big regret for Gunners family
The Bosnian international was released by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta in January, but now the Athletic reports that he’s in his ‘best form in years’.
Kolasinac joined Arsenal back in 2017 on a free transfer after leaving Bundesliga outfit Schalke.
Sead Kolasinac struggled to make an impact in North London and was even loaned back to his former side during the second-half of the 2020-21 campaign.
He did put in some promising displays for the Gunners but now the 29-year-old has rediscovered his best form at Marseille in Ligue 1.
Kolasinac in his ‘best form in years’
The Athletic reports that Kolasinac got off to a very difficult start in France after leaving Arsenal by mutual consent.
The defender really struggled in his first six months due to lacking the stamina to play as a left-back.
Marseille were even thought to have been considering terminating the 18-month contract he signed back in January.
But the Bosnian defender has been handed a new position as a left-sided centre-back and has started the current campaign in fine form.
Kolasinac is said to look physically dominant in the role and has been nicknamed ‘the warrior’ by the Marseille faithful.
The former Gunners man’s best performances in North London came when he was playing as a left-sided centre-back. So it’s no surprise to see him doing so well in the position in France.
Mikel Arteta clearly didn’t see the player as part of his plans and is now well-stocked defensively.
Marseille travel to Arsenal’s bitter rivals Spurs tomorrow night to kick-off their Champions League campaign.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Kolasinac can continue his current form and help the French outfit get a result.
Marseille currently have the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Alexis Sanchez and Nuno Tavares in their squad. So there will be a host of ex-Arsenal players looking to get one over Spurs tomorrow.
