Potential club-record signing arrives, Jesus solution found: Arsenal’s potential post-Jan XI

For the first time in a long time, Arsenal head into the January transfer window with something to hold onto.

The Gunners are well and truly in the title race heading into January, and if they keep up their good form, their lengthy title drought could end this season.

However, as we all know, things just aren’t quite that easy.

Indeed, keeping up this level of form will not be a straightforward task for the Gunners, and they will need some help in this winter transfer window.

Luckily, it has been reported that Edu and Mikel Arteta will be backed in the transfer market, and with that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting the north London club’s post-January XI.

We think that Arsenal may only make one signing next month, but, to be fair, it’s a huge one.

Indeed, after weeks and weeks of speculation, we’re tipping Arsenal to finally conclude a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Mudryk will not come cheaply. Darijo Srna has stated that he wants a fee of around £85m for the Shakhtar Donetsk star, but if Arsenal are serious about trying to win the league, they will splash the cash and conclude what may well end up being a club-record deal.

Of course, one other key gap in the Arsenal squad is up front. Gabriel Jesus is, of course, injured for the next three months, but according to Graeme Bailey, the Gunners plan to use Gabriel Martinelli as a number nine in his absence, so the youngster slots in up front.

This may be the most important transfer window in Arsenal’s recent history, and they have to get this right if they’re going to win the league.
