Premier League rivals are now very much interested in player Arsenal sold for cheap price last summer – Announcement imminent soon
English clubs are reportedly interested in signing former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who only left the north London club permanently last summer as VfB Stuttgart could now sell the centre-back.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga star is open to leaving Stuttgart this January, with the German side’s financial situation meaning that selling Mavropanos could be a wise decision amid interest from English clubs as well as Atletico Madrid.
Mavropanos originally signed for Stuttgart on loan last season. However, the Bundesliga club activated an option to sign the centre-back from Arsenal for as little as £4.5m, with the defender now believed to be worth as much as £21m according to Bild.
The deal was seen by many Arsenal fans as the latest in a long line of transfer mess-ups that have seen the north London side fail to get the right value out of a promising player, with similar incidents happening over the years involving the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Serge Gnabry
And now, Mavropanos could be heading back to England with Stuttgart eager to sell and Premier League clubs interested in the Greek international, with Arsenal potentially being left with egg on their faces if the defender is signed by a rival team in the coming days.
STUTTGART SELLING MAVROPANOS WILL BE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO ARSENAL
Mavropanos has been one of the standout defenders in the Bundesliga since signing for Stuttgart in 2021, and for Arsenal, the German side selling the Greek star in January for a big fee would be nothing short of an embarrassment for the north London club.
After all, the Gunners have been shocking in the transfer market in recent years in trying to get value out of any promising players, with Joe Willock and Alex Iwobi arguably the only success stories, and Stuttgart selling Mavropanos to an English side would be a moment few Arsenal fans would want to experience.
