‘Progressing really well,I never expect this’: Mikel Arteta suggests injured Arsenal player could be back in our next Game rather than expected

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Burnley and had some indifferent news on the injury front.

Like their cross-city rivals Tottenham, Arsenal are also suffering with a number of injury issues.

Mikel Arteta has a host of players out such as Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, while there are doubts over others in his squad.

One player who is out again is Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian midfielder just does not seem to be able to stay fit and there are strong rumours that he could be on his way out in January as well.

However, speaking about Partey, Arteta has confirmed that his injury is actually healing nicely and the Spaniard hopes he might see his £45m man in weeks, rather than months.

Mikel Arteta gives Thomas Partey injury update
Speaking to Football.London ahead of this weekend’s clash with Burnley, Arteta had news on Partey.

“Hopefully not. He’s progressing really well. I said hopefully it will be weeks not months. He needs support and hopefully the injury will heal in the right way because he’s a big player for us,” Arteta said.

Of course, this is a bit of a none-answer in terms of a timescale. However, it does suggest that there is some hope behind the scenes that Partey will make a return soon.

The Gunners need all their players fit and ready for the busy winter months, with January still some way off in terms of being able to get new players in.

Partey has often struggled with injuries but he remains a key player. Arteta signed Declan Rice in the summer with the idea of the pair forming a formidable partnership in the middle.

As of yet, Arsenal fans haven’t seen much of that and it would feel like a new signing if Partey can come back before Christmas.
