“Put Amrabat on the bench and play this player in the Midfield” – Erik Ten Hag has been seriously warned to stop using Amrabat due to His recent errors and play a £27m player in the Midfield for Man united’– not Tominay and Casemiro

Manchester United came from two goals down to secure a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, and while Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho grabbed the goals and have been receiving deserved plaudits, Kobbie Mainoo was one of the best performers in the game.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been consistently solid for the Red Devils since making his first Premier League start against Everton last month, and he continued his fine form against the Villans.

The goalscorers were impressed with his excellent display in the much-needed victory, taking to Instagram to react after the Boxing Day thriller.

The Man United academy graduate had 49 touches, completed 34 passes, won five out of the six aerial duels he challenged for, made three clearances, won two of the three tackles he attempted and made one interception.

Most of the players only stepped up in the second-half after the Red Devils had found themselves 2-0 down heading into half-time, but Mainoo was impressive across both halves until he was withdrawn in the closing stages of the game.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag was a relieved man after the game considering the pressure that had been mounting on him, and he will be wishing most of his players can step up and be as dedicated and hungry as the teenage sensation.

The Red Devils return to action on Saturday with a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in their last game for 2023, and the Dutchman will be desperate for another top performance and victory as he looks to convince new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team that he is the perfect man for the job.

Yesterday’s match was one of the best performances fans have seen from Man United in 2023-24, but whether they can start replicating such consistently remains to be seen as most of the players have often looked uninspired and uninterested.
