‘Regardless of our performance I still respect them ‘:Erik ten Hag praises three ‘very good’ Man Utd players after 1-0 win against Luton
Erik ten Hag has praised the performance of three players after he watched his Manchester United side beat Luton 1-0.
Manchester United were uninspiring in victory against Luton Town with just one goal scored despite having four big chances.
With better finishing, United probably left today with a positive goal difference, but they just couldn’t seem to find the net.
Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho all struggled in front of goal, missing big chances.
It was Victor Lindelof who scored the winner for United, and after the game, none of the attackers were on Erik ten Hag‘s praise list.
Ten Hag praises trio v Luton
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match on Saturday evening, Ten Hag had praise for three United players.
“Yeah it was very good [Lindelof’s finish], and I think they played a very good game, Victor Lindelof with his partner in the second half especially Harry Maguire and also Scott McTominay.
“But it is a reward for Victor to play such a good game that you get to score a goal.”
These three were good, but primarily the defensive partnership of Maguire and Lindelof was top-class.
Ten Hag might’ve found his new preferred duo
Both Maguire and Lindelof were excellent against Luton, and yes it is just Luton but they were both so solid.
Great in possession and out of possession, the two never looked like conceding.
While Luton didn’t trouble much, United have been run ragged by teams of a similar quality such as Sheffield United this season.
With Raphael Varane clearly out of favour, this duo should be the combination for the foreseeable.
