Report claims £26m star is close to joining Arsenal, club already moving to sign replacement

Arsenal want the Brazilian youngster  Danilo and his club Palmeiras appear to have already found a replacement for the midfielder ahead of January.

The Gunners are absolutely in the market for a holding midfielder in 2023.

Mohamed Elneny could leave the club and natural competition for Thomas Partey is needed in front of the back four.

Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz won’t be signing after penning a new deal, but Edu may have another Brazilian in mind.

ARSENAL WANT DANILO

A name that has been mentioned on many occasions is that of Palmeiras star Danilo.

Goal reported in August that Arsenal had launched a £20million move for Danilo but no move was completed in the summer window.

Palmeiras didn’t want to sell at that time at they were chasing the Brazilian league title but the London Evening Standard noted in September that Arsenal were still keen.

The Sun have since added in October that Arsenal think Palmeiras will sell in January and the Gunners will offer £26million for him.

If we had to guess the identity of Arsenal’s next midfield addition, we would go with Danilo.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a great week having clinched the title with Palmeiras – who likely know that he will be leaving soon.

In fact, Bolavip claim that Danilo is ‘close to signing with Arsenal’ and Palmeiras are already in the process of finding a replacement.

It’s stated that Palmeiras have picked out Udinese midfielder Walace for a move back to Brazil having previously turned out for Gremio.

The 27-year-old is a holding midfield just like Danilo and allegedly wants to return to Brazil in 2023.

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has already given director of football Anderson Barros permission to negotiate a deal for Danilo.

That would suggest that Palmeiras are well aware that Danilo to Arsenal is a possibility for January in an exciting move for the Gunners.
