“Similar to Phil Foden”: Arteta calls up Arsenal prodigy ‘similar’ to Phil Foden to first-team training pre-PSV

Arsenal are flying high at present, boasting seven consecutive wins in all competitions.

The Gunners remain top of the Premier League table and are on course to qualify for the Europa League knockouts.

On Thursday, Arsenal host PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League, with qualification close.

The Gunners were initially due to welcome the Dutch giants to the Emirates Stadium in Group A last month.

However, the death and state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II saw the match rearranged by the authorities.

Arsenal need just one point to seal a top-two place in their Europa League group.

There’s another quick turnaround in games, with the Gunners playing Southampton away in the league on Sunday.

With this in mind, Mikel Arteta could well make some changes for the PSV clash.

And on Wednesday, several Arsenal academy players featured in training at London Colney.

The record-breaking Ethan Nwaneri was among the Gunners youngsters taking part in the session.

‘No doubting this kid’s ability’

Nwaneri became the youngest ever player to feature in the Premier League with his late cameo in the win over Brentford in September.

The 15-year-old has also played for both the Arsenal Under-18s and Under-21s this season.

Rio Ferdinand suggested that everything he has heard about Nwaneri hints that he has the talent to handle all of the expectations.

“There’s no doubting this kid’s ability,” he told his YouTube channel.

“I’ve heard from coaches that are at the club and from various different people in the game at that level that there aren’t many 15-year-olds in the last 10 or so years that have got the ability that this guy’s shown on a consistent basis.

“We are talking the Fodens of this world. At 15, he’s at a similar level they’re talking.”

Could we see Nwaneri make his second Arsenal appearance against PSV?
