TERMS AGREED: Player Agent now in London to finalize deal for sensational £75m premier league striker who gave William Saliba though time last season – agreement set to be reached tonight as announcement will be done tomorrow morning if sealed tonight
Fabrizio Romano reports for his YouTube channel that the clear plan is for Benjamin Sesko to leave RB Leipzig last summer, unlike in 2024 when he opted to stay rather than joining Arsenal.
Romano adds that Arsenal have held talks with both RB Leipzig and Sesko’s agent, and those talks involved getting an understanding of the player’s situation – primarily contract terms and transfer fee (which is expected to be less than the €100m reported elsewhere).
But at this stage, nothing is agreed. If Arsenal are going to sign Sesko, we’re clearly still in the very early stages of that process.
Chelsea have been one of the reported rivals for Sesko for the last few months, but The Telegraph journalist Matt Law tells the London Is Blue podcast that he feels the striker is moving more towards Arsenal now.
That’s not a huge surprise, with the club signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, pursuing a £50m move for Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund, and links with other strikers like Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt. Much as they might want to, Chelsea can’t sign everyone.
Even if Sesko does cost less than €100m (£84.4m), he still won’t be cheap. Previous reports have suggested Leipzig want at least £75m for his transfer.
Arsenal have been pushing for Sesko for a while now, making prior attempts to sign him in the summer of 2024 and January 2025.
The striker scored 21 goals for Leipzig in 2024/25, assisting a further six, as well as scoring five goals in eight games for Slovenia. He’s been called up again for a couple of friendlies against Luxembourg and Bosnia & Herzegovina over the upcoming June break.
