Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman would be a perfect signing for Arsenal.
The Gunners have already purchased Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino after making David Raya’s loan move permanent. However, it has been reported that Mikel Arteta’s side could add one more new signing before the deadline.
Now, speaking on Men in Blazers, Romano has reported that Arsenal could remain active in the market after signing Merino and Coman would be a perfect acquisition for them to strengthen the attack.
However, the journalist says that the Frenchman is on a very high wage at Bayern Munich and that could be an issue for Arsenal to lure him to the Emirates Stadium before the deadline.
Romano says that Saudi Arabian clubs are trying to purchase him and Barcelona are also interested in him. So, Arsenal will have to overcome several obstacles to sign him should they formalise their interest.
Coman to Arsenal
Romano said:
“I’ll mention one name, that is Kingsley Coman. Kingsley Coman he has some possibilities in Saudi and he’s on the list of Barcelona. For Arsenal he could be a perfect solution. The problem there is a salary, because he’s on a big salary at Bayern. I think they can do one more after Mikel Merino.”
The forward – valued at around £42m by Transfermarkt – still has three years remaining in his current contract so Bayern Munich are expected to demand a substantial amount of money to let him leave.
However, he has had several injury problems over the last few years so spending a big fee to sign an injury-prone player would be a huge gamble. Therefore, the Emirates club would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the attack.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually decide to formalise their interest in signing him before the end of this transfer window.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been busy trimming their squad along with adding new faces this summer as after selling Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham, Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace. Additionally, Arteta’s side have agreed on a deal in principle with Southampton to cash in on Aaron Ramsdale.
