‘The champions’: Souness predicts who’ll win title – Arsenal or Manchester City

Graeme Souness has said on Sky Sports Premier League (1:03pm, January 1, 2023) that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will.

The Liverpool legend believes that although Arsenal have been good so far this season, defending champions Manchester City will come good and go on a run.

Mikel Arteta’s side are as many as seven points clear of second-placed City at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.

Souness said: “I still believe that City will come good. I think they will go on a run and end up as being the champions, as good as Arsenal have been.”

WHO WILL WIN PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE: ARSENAL OR MANCHESTER CITY?

In our view, Manchester City should still be backed for the Premier League title this season, but we should not be surprised if Arsenal do end up becoming the champions in the end.

That Arsenal are seven points clear at the top and ahead of a Manchester City team for whom Norway international striker Erling Haaland is banging in the goals for fun tells its own story.

The Gunners have a very young and dynamic team who are not fazed by anything.

However, City have arguably the best squad in the Premier League and a manager who is used to winning titles.

That experience of winning trophies and winning matches under intense pressure could be a big factor in the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.
