During his two spells at the club, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 145 goals at the club and is adored by fans.
This is despite his second spell ending in flames after a falling out with Erik ten Hag which culminated in an interview with Piers Morgan and the club terminating his contract.
Despite this, Old Trafford always seems to have a special place in Ronaldo’s heart and he desires the club to return to the heights of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Now, he has named one man who can help Ten Hag do exactly that.
Cristiano Ronaldo says Ruud van Nistelrooy can be key factor
Ronaldo is a footballing great and his opinion will always be valued considering the greatness he has achieved.
Now he’s weighed in on the situation United are facing right now.
Speaking with Rio Ferdinand on FIVE as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo has explained that Ruud van Nistelrooy is the man who can help Ten Hag to rebuild the club.
“If Ten Hag listens to Ruud van Nistelrooy… maybe he can help.
“He knows the club and the club should listen to the guys who were there”.
After already naming Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo named five other legendary United figures who can help.
“Rio, Roy Keane, [Paul] Scholes, Gary Neville, Sir Alex Ferguson.
“You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge”.
Speaking later, Ronaldo did admit that he is starting to see positive changes at United with Ineos leading the charge.
“Man United need time to rebuild because it’s still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change.
“They understand that. This is the only way. This is why they show, they have started to change again, the structure of the club, the president, the infrastructure and everything.
“The owners of the club are investing in the training ground. I’m happy because things are changing.
“I’m not happy with the way it all happened, but in the same way, we cannot control some points of our life sometimes, but it’s done, already done”
Ineos are on the right track to bring Manchester United to greatness
Ronaldo first joined United during the golden years under Sir Alex Ferguson and played a substantial part in multiple league triumphs and a Champions League win too.
Because of this, seeing how far standards had dropped in the dozen years between his exit and return, Ronaldo was left livid at what happened to the club.
However, with Ineos, it finally seems like things are on the right path to take United back to where the club belongs.
