Thursday morning deal: Man united set to announce their 6th signing today as deal with £50m defender is now at final stage, medical schedule to hold tomorrow as player set to start against Nottingham forest
If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are close to signing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.
The Red Devils need to reinforce their backline before the closure of the summer transfer window and the young French international is expected to move to Old Trafford.
According to L’Equipe, the 23-year-old’s defender’s exit from the Ligue 1 side to Manchester United is about to happen.
The renowned media outlet have mentioned that Nice are already preparing for the departure of their central defender to the 20-time English champions.
Man Utd agreed a fee with West Ham United to sell former skipper, Harry Maguire, but the England international is still stuck at Old Trafford.
Currently, he is the fourth choice central defender under Erik ten Hag and United should bring in Jean-Clair Todibo soon so that the former Leicester City star moves further down the pecking order and may finally decide to leave.
Staying with the Red Devils would mean warming the bench and risking his place in the Three Lions’ European Championships squad.
Todibo featured in 33 league games for Nice in the last campaign and helped the team keep no fewer than 10 clean sheets.
Due to an uncertain future, the former Barcelona central defender was not even part of the squad in the last Ligue 1 fixture against FC Lorient.
He still has more than three years left on his contract and is valued at around £42.7million (50 million euros).
