Arsenal’s pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze remains firmly on track, despite speculation that the club could be moving for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
According to The Times, the potential arrival of Madueke does not impact Arsenal’s separate plans to strengthen in midfield or their pursuit of a new striker.
That’s positive news for supporters hoping to see Eze make the switch across London this summer. The 27-year-old England international has long been admired by Mikel Arteta for his flair, versatility, and ability to break lines with the ball at his feet. At Arsenal, he could operate either as a left-sided eight in midfield or as a wide attacker drifting inside—giving Arteta valuable tactical flexibility ahead of a season in which Arsenal hope to push for major honours.
Fans had feared that Arsenal’s progress on signing Madueke could lead to a deal for Eze being dead in the water. But Madueke appears to be viewed as an option for the wide areas, and in particular, a backup for Bukayo Saka. Saka has been overworked for several seasons and is now recovering from a major hamstring injury.
While Eze does have a release clause in his contract, Arsenal are keen to avoid triggering it outright. Instead, the club are believed to be negotiating a deal structured in more favourable instalments. Some reports have even suggested that a player-plus-cash offer is being explored, with transfer chief Andrea Berta determined to bring Eze to the Emirates.
At 27, Eze would represent a ‘win now’ addition—ideal for a squad that has developed under Arteta’s guidance and is now expected to challenge for trophies. His ability to unlock defences and link midfield to attack could add a new dimension to Arsenal’s play, particularly in matches where breaking down deep blocks has proven difficult.
Arsenal fans can continue to dream—this deal is very much alive.
