TUESDAY MORNING DONE DEAL: Man United new signing set to Arrive Abt Carrington TODAY for medical after reaching verbal agreement with the Club last night – £40m with eventual add-ons agreed
Manchester United could land midfielder Sofyan Amrabat for a cheaper price than previously expected.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports Fiorentina could demand just 22-25 million Euros as the main fee.
This would set the price for Manchester United to pay at between £19 million and £21.5 million.
He reports Fiorentina would like it to get towards 30 million Euros with eventual add-ons, £25 million.
Sofyan Amrabat to Manchester United
A report last night from Viola News reported Manchester United had been in touch with Sofyan Amrabat‘s representatives.
Pedulla backs this up, and adds that the midfielder has given his approval to the deal, reporting: “Amrabat said yes to the transfer.”
A deal is not yet ready to move forward however, because United have to sell players to create funds, with the remainder of the transfer budget apportioned to signing a striker.
This should not be a problem as Manchester United have multiple players available for transfer, but the market is slow going so far.
Fred for instance is a player United could cash in on, but the reported offers from Galatasaray have been low.
Amrabat offers midfield depth
There is no doubt Casemiro is the key man in Manchester United’s midfield, but the club lack cover for the Brazilian.
This was particularly apparent last season away at Arsenal when Casemiro was suspended. Scott McTominay filled in, and struggled.
Amrabat is capable stand-in for Casemiro, who could also play alongside him too in certain tactical situations, and help United become tougher to beat away from home.
At a price of £19 million rising to £25 million, a move for the Moroccan would be a bargain. The player is keen, he will just need to be patient with United.
