Speaking on his podcast, Peter Crouch has named Gabriel Jesus as one of the Premier League strikers he’d most like to play alongside.
The Arsenal ace has hit the ground running for his new club this season, and Crouch believes he would work wonders alongside the former Manchester City man.
The ex-England striker states that he’d love to play with Jesus because of his unselfish nature and ability to sacrifice himself for the team, stating that he’d score plenty of goals in a front two with the 25-year-old.
WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
Crouch responded when asked about which striker he’d most like to play with.
“I think it would be either Firmino or Jesus, for me they’re unselfish, players I could play with and feed off, they sacrifice themselves, you have to be selfish and I would be selfish in this scenario. Playing with Haaland would be great but I don’t think we’d complement each other and he’d probably score more than me.
“Jesus is another one who is unselfish as a player.”
COULD WORK WELL
It’s a strange one to consider, but the more you think about it the more a Jesus-Crouch strike partnership could’ve worked.
Think about it, who were Crouch’s best partners during his playing days? Jermain Defoe, Dirk Kuyt and Wayne Rooney, and Jesus is a blend of all three.
He has the poaching ability of Defoe, the workrate of Kuyt and the trickery of a young Wayne Rooney back when he was the archetypal ‘street striker’.
We’ll never get to see Jesus and Crouch together in the same team, but we can’t help but feel that these two would’ve gotten on like a house on fire.
