Manchester United handed Wolves their third point of the season on another disappointing evening at Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee had given the Red Devils the lead midway through the first half with a deflected effort. But Ladislav Krejčí equalised for Wolves moments before the break with an eye-catching header.
The visitors were the better side throughout the majority of the game, with United struggling to find fluency in attack. Patrick Dorgu thought he had secured victory late on, only to see his celebrations cut short by the linesman’s flag.
The point leaves the Red Devils sixth in the table, while Wolves continue to prop up the table. Here are all of the talking points from Old Trafford:
Wolves’ luck out once again
It really wasn’t a performance to write home about from United in the first-half, with Wolves having the majority of the play. But given their poor fortune this season, it was only a matter of time until the hosts took the lead and that’s exactly what happened.
Ayden Heaven did excellently to steal the ball back for the Red Devils and looked to play Zirkzee through. Wolves managed to get a few bodies behind the ball but that only served to obscure Jose Sa’s view as Zirkzee’s effort took a wicked deflection and bounced into the back of the net.

Krejci silences Old Trafford
Senne Lammens had proven to be the only barrier between Wolves and an equaliser at Old Trafford before the break. Hugo Bueno went close from a flowing move, only to be denied by the Belgian stopper.
But he was powerless to stop Ladislav Krejčí from levelling. After the hosts failed to deal with a corner, the Czech netted expertly with a brilliant header to deservedly see Wolves head into the break on level terms.
Sa saves Mosquera
Every point and every goal appears to be priceless for Wolves right now. The only issue is that they can’t stop giving them away.
And they almost scored one of the great Premier League own goals shortly before the hour. From a long ball, Yerson Mosquera nodded back to his goalkeeper, only to see the ball head towards the net.
Fortunately for him, Sa just about got back in time to claw it off of the line.
Amorim change costly
After what was arguably their most accomplished performance of the season last time out against Newcastle, boss Ruben Amorim bizarrely elected to change his system. After selecting a back three against the Magpies, United reverted to type this time around in the Portuguese coach’s preferred 3-4-3.
And once again, it seemed to hamper the Red Devils who were lacking fluency and throughout the 90 minutes. Up against a better side, they’d surely have been punished.
Red Devils frustrated
Just as though it looked like both sides would claim a point, Old Trafford was sent into raptures. Sesko’s effort was well saved by Sa, but the Portuguese only served to parry it to Dorgu, who fired high into the roof of the net.
Fortunately for Wolves, the offside flag came to their rescue – a decision that VAR agreed with. It would certainly have been another cruel way to lose a game for the Midlands side.
Edwards off the mark
Finally, Wolves have three points. Finally, Rob Edwards has his first point as manager.
There’s no getting away from it, it’s been an utterly rotten season for Wolves. But their display at Old Trafford was no doubt among their best of the campaign.
Of course, the bar isn’t particularly high at the moment and they still need a miracle to see them retain their place in the Premier League but at least the side have finally given their fans something to celebrate.
