‘we will meet again next season’: Mykhailo Mudryk’s two-word response to Arsenal after man arrested for shining laser at Chelsea winger

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for shining a laser in the face of Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in an action Arsenal have branded as ‘dangerous and totally unacceptable’.

The Met Police have confirmed the 21-year-old is in custody after he was arrested during the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Chelsea in North London.

Mudryk was introduced in the 71st minute and a green laser could be seen on his face, with Arsenal condemning the incident.

Arsenal said: “This behaviour is dangerous and totally unacceptable, and we will fully support the police with their enquiries.

“We will obviously take the strongest possible action.”

Mudryk later said on Instagram: “It’s ok.

The Ukrainian was introduced with Arsenal leading 3-1 after goals from Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus had put Mikel Arteta’s side 3-0 ahead at half time. Noni Madueke netted for Chelsea in the 65th minute.

Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, in a deal that could total £89m. Tuesday marked a sixth-straight loss for the Blues, as their struggles continued under interim boss Frank Lampard.

“We weren’t good enough,” conceded the former Chelsea player after the game.

“We were too nice to play against, too passive. In possession we weren’t playing balls over their press, or winning second balls.

“Chelsea have been a big success for 20 years domestically and in the Champions League, at the moment we’re not in that position.

“But from the moment I’ve been here it’s been evident we’re too nice as a team.

“We can’t change things overnight but we had better get there quickly because we have another game at the weekend and games to come.”
