‘You can just tell’: Michael Owen says Arsenal have an ‘absolute killer’ in their ranks right now
Michael Owen has been singing the praises of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, after the forward scored against West Ham.
Nketiah is being tasked with filling the boots of Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal. The Brazilian is out for at least a few weeks, meaning Nketiah will now get his big chance.
The young striker took his chance against the Hammers with aplomb as well. Latching onto a Martin Odegaard pass, Nketiah simply rolled his defender before finishing low into the corner.
And speaking about Nketiah to PL productions, legendary PL goalscorer Owen was full of praise for the Arsenal man.
“When he gets in that position, this guy can finish. We’ve watched games today where it’s not the centre-forwards strength lets say, to be an absolute killer in front of goal. This lad does finish. He’s a born finisher,” Owen said.
“You can just tell. You can see in front of goal. He just looks like a finisher. He’s calm, he’s collected. All the pressure in the world can be on you but when you’re a goalscorer that’s what you’ve honed your skills in all your life. His goal tonight was absolutely brilliant. I loved how he felt for his man. He just felt where he was and knew where he was then he rolled him.”
Our View: Nketiah showing his worth for Arsenal
There is a fair bit of pressure on Eddie Nketiah right now. The Gunners missing Jesus is something that could derail their season and he knows he has to produce.
For now, at least, he is doing just that. His performance against West Ham was great and his finish was one that Owen himself would have been proud of.
If Nketiah can keep that level up, then Arsenal have absolutely nothing to worry about while Jesus makes his return.
