Arsenal’s rivals are not ready to see Raheem Sterling working his magic in the famous red shirt.
That’s the message from Declan Rice as he took time away from international duty to share a perfect three-word reaction to Sterling’s deadline day arrival. The former Manchester City winger touched down at Arsenal from their London rivals Chelsea after being consigned to the ‘bomb squad’ at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling, 29, has now got a fresh remit this season. Has been been recruited to provide additional competition for Arsenal in attacking quarters, as they aim to finally bridge the gap on City at the Premier League summit this term.
Arsenal have pushed Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side all the way in each of the last two campaigns. However, in the end, they fell short on both occasions and City have reigned supreme four years on the bounce.
But will it be different this season? After confirming that he will wear the No.30 shirt, Arsenal loanee Sterling took to Instagram to show off his new look, uploading several pictures from his unveiling on to the platform in addition to writing a short 10-word message for his followers.
The caption read: “New threads, new number, new focus. Buzzing to be a Gunner.”
Sterling’s seemingly not the only man buzzing with that news. Rice, who is familiar with the 29-year-old from their time with England together, replied: “They ain’t ready.”
That comment from Rice, who is currently away from the Emirates Stadium on international duty, garnered plenty of ‘likes’ on Instagram as Arsenal supporters revelled at the prospect of their reunion. Rice and Sterling have appeared 30 times together for the Three Lions, although the latter has not represented his country since December 2022.
Sterling has 82 caps to his name with 20 goals. England play Ireland and Finland in the coming days.
