Manchester United are on the verge of securing their second major signing of the summer transfer window.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Youri Tielemans has completed his medical ahead of his transfer to Man United.

The transfer gathered serious momentum yesterday after reports revealed that United were rapidly advancing in negotiations with Aston Villa.

Villa had absolutely no intention of selling one of their most influential players, but the £35 million release clause left them with virtually no room to resist.

Tielemans is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract, with United also holding the option to extend the agreement by a further 12 months.

The Belgian midfielder joined Aston Villa on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the team.

During his time at Villa Park, he made 134 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 24 assists while playing a pivotal role in their memorable UEFA Europa League triumph last season.

Tielemans first rose to prominence during an outstanding five-year spell with Leicester City, where he scored 25 goals in 182 appearances and famously inspired the Foxes to FA Cup glory in 2021.

Tielemans will be the second addition to the United squad this summer after the club officially announced the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea yesterday.

Santos only recently turned 22, and the opportunity to learn alongside an experienced Premier League performer like Tielemans could prove invaluable to his development.

Signing the Belgian captain for £35m is truly a bargain in today’s inflated market.
