Galatasaray have submitted a £38 million offer to sign Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli this summer.
The Brazil international played second fiddle to Leandro Trossard on the left wing in the Premier League last term. His future remains uncertain despite the Belgian’s exit.
The Gunners signed Christos Tzolis to replace Trossard, and the hierarchy are open to parting ways with Martinelli too, if they can land a marquee left winger pretty soon.
Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has now revealed that Galatasaray have submitted a £38m offer to secure the services of Martinelli this summer.
Martinelli, who started versus Como yesterday, is the top priority for the Turkish champions.
Arsenal should hold out for a higher fee or keep Martinelli
Martinelli managed 18 goal contributions last term. He was brilliant in the Champions League with six goals and two assists, but had minimal impact in the Premier League.
Still, the 25-year-old scored a dramatic late equaliser against Manchester City in September, which contributed towards the Gunners winning a long-awaited top-flight title.
Martinelli remains a clear fan-favourite. His current deal expires in June next year, but the Premier League champions have the option to keep him for another year with a clause.
With the inflated nature of the transfer window this summer, we believe £38m does not represent a good figure for a player who has made regular goal contributions at the highest level.
Crysencio Summerville left West Ham United for Al-Hilal in a deal worth £55m plus £5m in add-ons despite contributing just seven goals and five assists for the Hammers last season.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are negotiating a deal worth almost £70m to purchase Savinho from Manchester City. The 22-year-old had only seven goal involvements last term.
Based on this, the Gunners should value Martinelli at £50-60m at least, in our view. They should hold firm on that figure and keep him if a suitable transfer proposal does not arrive soon.
