The race to sign Monga has intensified over the past year, with Manchester City heavily linked throughout 2025. However, Arsenal appeared to have won said race until this latest twist.

Despite Leicester City’s relegation to League One, Monga made 27 Championship appearances, mostly from the bench, impressing with his maturity and attracting interest from several Premier League clubs eager to secure one of England’s brightest young talents before his value rises further.

The winger, already an England Under-19 international, made history in August by becoming the youngest goalscorer in Championship history after netting his first senior goal against Preston North End.

Monga has already experienced Premier League football, making his senior debut for Leicester against Newcastle United in April 2025. He went on to make seven substitute appearances in the 2024/25 season, highlighting his rapid development.

There is little doubt that the 17-year-old will go on to be a star, hence the interest in him. It is a shame that Leicester City are not going to get to see the best of their homegrown star.

Who else is likely to move on from Leicester City?
Departures all across the Leicester City squad are likely this summer. Russell Martin will get the opportunity to reshape the LCFC side to his liking.

Midfielders Harry Winks, Hamza Choudhury and Oliver Skipp are also names to watch, while wide players Abdul Fatawu and Victor Kristiansen continue to draw attention from clubs higher up the football pyramid.

Further forward, a major overhaul appears inevitable following the departures of Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew, leaving Leicester with plenty of work to do in attack.
