Striker? What striker? It wasn’t so long ago that Arsenal fans were crying out for their team to buy a striker as their Premier League title push was starting to go off the rails.
But since Mikel Arteta and his players have returned from the winter break, they have put five past Crystal Palace, three goals against Liverpool and then hit West Ham United for six on Sunday.
Leandro Trossard has scored three goals during that period and Tim Sherwood thinks he has now been a ‘great signing for Arsenal’, as he told Premier League Productions (12/02/24 at 5:10 pm).
The £27 million signing moved to the Emirates last January when there were strong links with Mykhailo Mudryk, but instead, they pushed for the Brighton man.
Since then, from his 50 games in all competitions, Leandro Trossard has 10 goals and 12 assists for his team, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk has four goals and five assists from 42 Chelsea matches.
Either way, Tim Sherwood thinks Arsenal have their own version of Diogo Jota, a player who is efficient and steps up to the plate when needed for Liverpool.
There is no doubt that Arsenal’s Belgian forward does that and he will now want to keep his place in Mikel Arteta’s XI.

“I like Trossard over Havertz in that position,” said Sherwood about Arsenal’s number nine.
“Get him in that area of the field in the penalty area, then he is a finisher. He’s like a Jota, for me. Not as clinical. But he affects the game.
“He either assists or scores goals. He has been a great signing for Arsenal.”
Who starts up front for Arsenal?
The only reason why Trossard is earning so many minutes for Arsenal is because Gabriel Jesus picked up yet another injury.
When he returns, it could be argued that he should remain on the bench because Trossard now deserves a run of starts.
That simply hasn’t happened since his move because, either Gabriel Martinelli is starting on the left or Jesus is up top.
Only a dip in form or an injury would bring him in, but now he deserves to keep his place on performances alone.
